Inspecting your crawlspace is important , and should be done at least every three months. You should visually check for signs of any water penetration through the foundation. This is most often the cause of both current and future foundation problems.
Check for standing water in the pea gravel or standing on the vapor barrier. Standing water leads to foundation deterioration, mold and mildew.
Check the sump pump and sump pump pit. Remove any debris that may be in the bottom. Check the float and make sure that it is functioning properly.
Visually check your plumbing for any leaks.
If the crawlspace has vents make sure they have intact screens and they are opened or closed according to season or temperature
Keeping and maintaining a clean dry crawlspace is important. It should never be left to chance!
